The phrase “climate change” frames the problem to be solved in highly abstract and distant terms. We need scientists and data points to reveal it and tell us what is happening. And even when we understand what is going on, it seems out of our control. But in the lead-up to next month’s UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, it’s worth remembering that climate change is happening right in our backyards, in places we can and do control.
