Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path

Since the outbreak of the pandemic we started a section here in EdTech and mLearning devoted for distance education. Our goal is to provide teachers with readily accessible resources to help them make the best of educational technology in their remote teaching.  We have already covered several EdTech tools, apps, and tutorials and today we are adding another interesting resource.

Breakout rooms in Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Google Meet provide a good way to get students talking and working in small groups. For some students, talking to a couple of classmates in a small breakout room is a lot less intimidating that talking to you "in front" of the whole class. Small breakout rooms give students a chance to talk and test ideas with a couple of classmates before subjecting their ideas to the silent or spoken criticism of the whole class. There are lots of other ways to think about using breakout rooms, here are some of my ideas for using breakout rooms with students. 

I've been revisiting some of my favorite books this summer. Doing that has reminded me of some ideas that I've shared in the past and also sparked some new ideas. One of those ideas is using multimedia creation tools to create alternatives to traditional book reports. Here's a handful of ideas for alternatives to traditional book report projects.
