Is Content Curation in Your Skill Set? It Should Be.

Is Content Curation in Your Skill Set? It Should Be. | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it

Curation is a growing need in organizations, and as such, a growing competency for those focused on worker performance. At the same time, the vision of what this competency looks like in practice is cloudy. How will what we do look different when we add curation to our skill sets?

Ahora si entendí qué es curation !!!

Marisol Araya Fonseca's curator insight, February 1, 2014 12:28 PM

Sure it is!!  Last week I showed my students how to scoopit.  I thought that since they seem to love Facebook, Scoopit was going to be a wow experience for them.  However, contrary to my expectations most of them did not show a real interest, or at least the kind of interest I expected.  What a pain!  Maybe it is a matter of time, culture, love for reading and writing, etc.  From a group of 12 youngers, only 2 of them said:  Thanks teacher, I like it!  Well... I will keep on trying...

Good article on content curation. So important nowadays ,with so much information around us, we need tools to process it (such as netvibes, diigo, delicious, feedly, etc.)

How to find, curate, and assess OER

How to find, curate, and assess OER | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it
As schools and districts try to reduce textbook costs and digitize instructional resources, one of the struggles many teachers have is finding good repositories of open education resources (OER). The first step is to know how to access OER resources. However, access itself isn’t enough and the sheer volume of materials can be overwhelming. The second challenge is knowing how to curate or organize the materials you find into useful groups. The term curate comes from the museum world where for eons, curators gathered artifacts and arranged them to tell a compelling story or to otherwise educate.

6 Great tools for content curation - Daily Genius

6 Great tools for content curation - Daily Genius | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it

I read recently that content curation is dead. I have a few different arguments against this concept, but for now, I’ll keep it short and sweet: Content curation is not dead, and while the debate over curating content online vs creating new content will rage on and on, curating content for other reasons is still going strong.

Begoña Iturgaitz's curator insight, October 5, 2014 6:02 AM

I also agreee with this issue as good references are still a must.  Probably, we'd  stick to great curation features: short, simple and useful. Curation tools are smart mainly for two purposes:  the basic, to share only best quality  content on the web and secondly to release good content you've already produced.  The only hiccups is to be honest enough to publish only best  quality stuff.

Mobile content curation | Learning with 'e's

Mobile content curation | Learning with 'e's | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it

This is a continuation in my series on mobile learning.

What is digital curation? For those who visit museums or galleries, curators are those who are expert in a specific genre of exhibit, and who ensure that the displays are kept up to date, accurate and relevant to the viewing public. Curation is at the very heart of the success of any museum or art gallery. Digital curation is similar in many ways. It is becoming more important as content increases.

Handig app om dingen die je op het web tegenkomt van aantekeningen te voorzien en te bewaren.

wanderingsalsero's curator insight, October 20, 2013 7:54 PM

I haven't read this article but I'm seriously interested in the question implied in the title.....i.e. how to 'mark up' information and get them on the web.  In many cases, I think that's adequate for most people's purpose.

I have yet to find a tool that I found really comfortable for doing that.  Maybe this is it.
