In the not so distant future, working, learning, and living will become increasingly inseparable, not by choice, but in order to thrive in a rapidly evolving learning economy.

The need to develop new ways of learning has become a live issue, largely linked with the demand for increased flexibility of pace, place and mode of delivery. Increasing student fees, with the result that many more students may choose to work their way through HE, means that the sector needs to identify pedagogies that are going to empower student learning, offering increased choice, and above all, facilitate high quality provision.
