Creating schools for the future, not the past for all students - Senge - 2012 - Leader to Leader

Senge believes that too many school systems are still operating based on obsolete, industrial-age thinking. Remaining focused on standardized-test scores is problematic, because “future-oriented businesses need people who are self-directed learners, have strong personal values and a larger sense of responsibility, and can collaborate effectively in teams and larger networks to solve complex problems.”

The Value of the Scenario Analysis Tool and Futures Thinking to Assist Systematic Change

The Value of the Scenario Analysis Tool and Futures Thinking to Assist Systematic Change | Future Schooling, Futures Thinking and Emerging Forms of Learning Part 2 | Scoop.it

This article examines the benefits of scenario analysis and futures thinking in assisting systematic change, as well as the effects and challenges of new disruptive digital technologies. New approaches to education and schooling should be considered in identifying the
objectives and goals for young Australians' education today and in the future in order to address and achieve such aims. It has been proposed that there are a number of moments when educators are ‘touching the future,' and that scenario analysis and futures thinking can help predict the new shape of Australian education.

Draft PhD Chapter 4: The Findings. “Future Schooling and Future Thinking: Emerging Forms of Learning Educational and Schools’ Leaders Perspectives" | Future Schooling, Futures Thinking and Emerging Forms of Learning Part 2 | Scoop.it

This chapter contains the results of  strand one Scenarios of Future Schooling,  Futures Thinking. The iterative mixed methods
methodology study was used to answer the research questions in strand one:

RQ1: How will participants respond to
the scenarios as constructed in the OCED six Schooling for Tomorrow scenarios for the future of schooling and
the HolonIQ five scenarios for the Future of Learning and Talent?’

RQ2: What does this suggest concerning
participants’ perceptions, knowledge and values relating to future schooling?

RQ3: What does this suggest for policy  development and change in Australian schools?

This chapter also includes a  discussion that shows the analysis conducted was consistent with the strand’s methodology approach,  and how the analysis ties back to the research questions. Additionally, this chapter includes sample  demographics, using tables to complement the summary. The process used to  analyse transcripts from the participants conducted to uncover codes and themes
is described in detail in chapter three. At each level of analysis, constant comparison was used to distil the data further, until themes emerged from the  data. Included in the chapter are tables and graphics used to present detailed  code and theme data, as well as graphics and vignettes from the individual  interviews used to emphasise key themes and the resultant theory. The Draft Chapter 4 will be updated in 2022 to include the data analysis of strand two of the research study The Emerging Forms of Learning.
