Having read this I think its important to note the source - seems to be from an online course provider and whilst I am an advocate of online distance education, the article doesn't acknowledge the 'reality' of being an online student. Whilst the technology is available to interact in the ways the author has described, the reality is that because of the flexibility of access to study we are expected to complete more work in our already busy lives. Timing is an issue in relation to meeting virtually with other students and being around for the tutorial times. What about international students? How are they accommodated within these timescales? More questions than answers here!

You are quite right! As an online student myself I know how demanding it can be to juggle work and online learning commitments I live in the Middle East, so I have to get up at 3am for synchronous classes (sigh!). |

Cons are only present if used in an incorrect fashion by the educator, and if it is not correctly monitored.
