How do we teach students the concept of privacy? How do we help them understand this concept when so much of their lives are online and open to all? This post discusses how "privacy is the new predator", providing many resources to help you work with your students. Have you heard about Facehawk? It is an interactive video that takes information from your Facebook account and creates a hawk that uses "photos and statuses from since your digital life began." On one hand we tell students that they need to keep their private information private, yet websites ask them to upload their picture. To assist with this issue there is a list of websites that allow students to create avatars. Additional resources focus on Digital Citizenship and Modern Internet Safety, Web 3.0, and New Media Literacy. |
