Trust, Innovation and Risk: a contextual inquiry into teaching practices and the implications for the use of technology | Irish Journal of Technology Enhanced Learning | Education 2.0 & 3.0 | Scoop.it
If we are to bring about lasting changes around the use of technology in teaching and learning in colleges and universities, we need to understand the practices that staff undertake and the challenges they face. Effective and sustained change comes from a place of working in service to pedagogies, and practices that support and surround learning and teaching. In order to better understand these issues Jisc commissioned research to gain more understanding about practice around learning and teaching and gaining insights beyond the technology-led.

A 2021 Definition of Edtech

A 2021 Definition of Edtech | Education 2.0 & 3.0 | Scoop.it

"Edtech, or “educational tech,” is the utilization of apps and tech devices for the purpose of teaching and learning. Edtech can happen inside or outside of classrooms, at any time, and in any place. Most modern edtech involves the use of a wireless internet connection and an electronic device such as a smartphone, tablet, or laptop, or desktop computer. Edtech allows for one learner or five million to learn, anywhere on earth, and to take the same classes as each other."

Edtech? It's all about policy! | Wonkhe | People | Education 2.0 & 3.0 | Scoop.it
You would think that the annual Association for Learning Technology conference – held this year at the University of Liverpool – would be primarily focused on technology. But you might be surprised to find that discussions and presentations are centred far more on policy and people. In setting the themes for the conference, co-chair Helen O’Sullivan (University of Liverpool), and ALT CEO Maren Deepwell chose not to highlight particular hardware or software, but to look at the common issues that underpin the way technology is used.

Technology allows the personal and professional growth. Being aware of how useful and meaningful technology is allows us to take advantage of all the benefits Of the ICT's. Since we just get used to have access to internet everywhere, we don't go beyond and we don't realize about the uncountable positive factors technology provides to us.

Is Education Technology a Discipline? and does it matter?

Is Education Technology a Discipline? and does it matter? | Education 2.0 & 3.0 | Scoop.it
I noticed the recent discussion on whether or not Education Technology is a discipline at Martin Weller’s blog post.

When I read the article that prompted the whole EdTech as discipline discussion, I wondered what was behind the claim that a discipline was emerging.

As Georgetown University prepares to launch a master’s degree program in Learning and Design, a new academic discipline built around the study of education technology, learning analytics and instructional design is starting to take shape.

Hmmm!
