Education 2.0 & 3.0

Many educators think that Personalized Learning (student driven learning) and Heutagogy are the same thing. They have many similarities but also many differences that I have illustrated in the chart below. The biggest difference is that with a Heutagogy approach the learner determines what they want to learn; it is not determined by curriculum or standards.

I chose this article because I have not sensed the endorsement of self-directed learning that I experienced, say 10 years ago. However, the author describes different tech tools that support the idea of self-directed learning. Certainly, social media and the availability of knowledge and resources that support it (animations, tutorials, videos) make self-directed learning a more realistic venture.

Create a learning experience that fits your adult learners’ needs with the Adult Learning Theory or andragogy.

- Adults appreciate self-directed learning.

- Adults want to learn by experience.

- Adults want a reason for why they’re learning. 

- Adults learn best when the subject has immediate value.

We need to be considering multi-pedagogical learning as a consequence of integrating technology with learning.

3- CYBER- Encoraja engajamento dos aprendizes no ambiente de aprendizagem on line.

I like these ideas. 

There was once only one “agogy” and now there are many. Most educators are intimately familiar with pedagogy – the art and science of educating and teaching children. Some are also familiar with andragogy – the art and science of educating and teaching adults. Recently a few more agogies have surfaced so I thought it was high time to explore some of these new and emerging ideas. We’ll start with the already familiar just to warm up.

Interesting idea for ePortfolio pedagogy.  Maybe the idea is to consider andragogy and heutagogy as distinct from pedagogy, or at least an evolution from it.
