Communication matters. While a few words can make someone feel special, words poorly chosen have the power to kill a relationship or tarnish a reputation.

In the Social Age, everything has changed. The Social Contract between organisation and individual is fractured, the nature of work is changing, we’ve seen the democratisation of communication and the devolution of creativity, with the old structures of power and control replaced by socially moderated and dynamic forms of Social Leadership. It's Time for Social and Emotional Learning for All

It's Time for Social and Emotional Learning for All | Education 2.0 & 3.0 | Scoop.it

Over the last decade, increased attention has been paid to the social and emotional learning (SEL) needs of children. This area of learning is necessary and essential to address -- for children and adults.

It's time that schools take responsibility for meeting the entire range of learning needs that educators have -- the need to use new technologies, to understand and implement new standards, to use new assessment strategies, and their needs to attend to their own social and emotional learning.

A Promise Is a Promise

A Promise Is a Promise | Education 2.0 & 3.0 | Scoop.it
Promise to Tell the Whole Truth

A promise is a promise. Some folks apply a rating scale, believing that breaking a big promise is inexcusable, while a small one is acceptable. That’s simply false. While breaking a big promise, such as failing to repay borrowed money, can torpedo a relationship, reneging on promises, such as being on time, casts doubt on future behavior.

Remember, trust is built through a series of experiences shared with others. When behavior is consistent, faith in the relationship develops. When promises are broken or people are misled, the bonds of trust are breached.

Broken promises imply that the offenders either didn’t think before making the promises, or don’t care that they’ve let you down. They’re also implying that their needs are more important than yours. So, be careful about the promises that you make and with whom you make them.

Debunking The Myth That All Millennials Are The Same

Debunking The Myth That All Millennials Are The Same | Education 2.0 & 3.0 | Scoop.it

The Myth

The gross generalizations should raise eyebrows because millennials currently represent 60% of our workforce.

On a positive note, the segment seems to care about the environment. Also, they’re said to be real wizards when it comes to technology including social media.

Ironically though, the tech-savvy millennial set may be inadvertently exacerbating the negative stereotypes via what many construe as a propensity for digital oversharing. It’s as if they want the entire world to know what they’re thinking, eating, drinking, liking, and not liking. And for better or worse opinions about our companies and beloved brands aren’t off limits.

The Learning Factor's curator insight, August 21, 2014 6:49 PM

Millennials, in general, have been negatively stereotyped as an entitled, self-centered, apathetic bunch with short attention spans and a questionable work ethic.
